Garage & Shed Storage in South Africa
Lock-up garages, double bays and workshop spaces for vehicles and gear across Australia.
Enclosed & Secure
Why Rent a Garage or Shed?
Open-air storage works for many vehicles, but a lock-up garage is in a different category for anything valuable, weather-sensitive or under active restoration. We connect renters with homeowners and small businesses who have spare garages, double bays and workshop sheds sitting empty every night.
Whether you need a lock-up for a classic car you only drive on weekends, a double garage for a long-term restoration project, or a full shed with power for ongoing mechanical work, there are options listed across residential streets and light industrial areas around Australia.
Single residential garages are commonly available month to month in most suburbs. Industrial sheds and workshops listed by small businesses offer more space, often with 3-phase power, concrete floors and higher roller doors. Every host is identity-verified and the listing will show door dimensions, internal height, surface type and whether power is available.

Browse Garage & Shed Storage by Region
Western Cape
2 cities
The Western Cape is South Africa's most visited province. Table Mountain, the Winelands, and the Garden Route draw millions of domestic and international tourists each year. Cape Town's population density and rapid property development have created real pressure on residential storage space. The province's boating culture is strong, from the yacht clubs of Hout Bay and Simon's Town to the waterways of Knysna. Caravan owners heading north along the N2 also represent a consistent off-season storage market.
Gauteng
3 cities
Gauteng is South Africa's economic engine, a densely populated inland plateau that houses Johannesburg, Pretoria, and the connecting urban sprawl. It's a province with high vehicle ownership per capita, significant small business activity, and a growing need for practical, secure off-site storage. Caravanning to the Bushveld and the coast is deeply embedded in South African culture, and Gauteng is where most of those caravans need to live for 11 months of the year.
KwaZulu-Natal
2 cities
KwaZulu-Natal stretches along the Indian Ocean from the Drakensberg foothills to the Mozambique border. Durban is a major port city with a warm climate that supports year-round boating and water sports. The province's residential suburbs are spacious by some standards, but Durban's popular North and South Coasts see strong demand for beach-vehicle and boat storage during peak periods and off-season lay-up.
Eastern Cape
1 city
The Eastern Cape is South Africa's surf coast. Jeffrey's Bay, Nahoon Beach, and the Wild Coast attract water sports enthusiasts from across the country. Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) is a mid-sized city where practical peer-to-peer storage fits naturally into a community-minded, outdoors-oriented culture. Commercial storage options here are limited relative to demand.
Free State
1 city
The Free State sits at the heart of South Africa, a plateau province of farmland, diamond fields, and the Orange River. Bloemfontein is the judicial capital and the province's largest city. Storage demand here is practical: caravans for weekend trips, work trailers, and agricultural equipment. Rural landowners with farm sheds are a natural match for urban households without enough space.
Mpumalanga
1 city
Mpumalanga is the gateway to the Kruger National Park and one of South Africa's most-visited provinces. The Lowveld's dramatic escarpment and nature reserves draw safari campers, overland travellers, and outdoor enthusiasts year-round. Nelspruit (Mbombela) is a fast-growing commercial city where residential land is becoming increasingly valuable. Peer-to-peer vehicle and equipment storage here fills a real gap.
Enclosed Storage That Works
Garages and sheds offer the ultimate protection for vehicles, equipment and personal belongings.
Fully Enclosed
Lock-up garages and sheds provide complete protection from weather, UV, theft and prying eyes.
Maximum Security
Roller doors, deadlocks and solid walls. Enclosed storage is the most secure option for valuable vehicles and gear.
Fair Pricing
Rent a garage from a private host at rates well below commercial self-storage. No contracts, no admin fees.
Workshop Space
Some hosts offer sheds with workbenches, power and lighting. Great for project vehicles and ongoing maintenance.
Classic & Collector Cars
An enclosed garage is the ideal environment for classic, collector and project cars that need climate protection.
Flexible Arrangements
Monthly or long-term. Many hosts are happy to arrange ongoing agreements for regular tenants.
Tips for Renting a Garage or Shed
- 1
Measure your vehicle before enquiring
Know the full length, width and height including mirrors, roof racks and antennas. Single residential garages in Australia are commonly 3 metres wide by 5.5 to 6 metres deep, which is tighter than most people expect. A large SUV or long-wheelbase ute can be a close fit. Confirm internal dimensions with the host before booking.
- 2
Check for power and lighting
If you plan to run a battery charger, tools or a dehumidifier, confirm the garage has a working power outlet and whether you will have access to it. Workshop sheds often have 240V GPOs and sometimes 3-phase. Agree with the host on power access before you book.
- 3
Inspect for water ingress before you commit
Ask the host about the roof condition and check listing photos for water stains on the floor or walls. A leaking Colorbond roof or a cracked concrete apron that holds water can cause more damage to a vehicle than leaving it outside. If you are storing a classic or collector car, ask specifically about humidity control and drainage.
- 4
Agree on access arrangements through the platform
Confirm before booking whether you get your own key, remote or code, and how after-hours access works. Some hosts live on-site and prefer advance notice; others hand over a key and step back. Having this agreed in writing through the platform before you move anything in prevents misunderstandings later.
